Meet the person behind the work

Words have fascinated me for as long as I can remember. As an avid reader with a naturally curious mind, I was drawn to languages from an early age and knew I wanted to build a career around them.

That passion led me to study Modern Languages and Literature at Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas — Universidade NOVA de Lisboa. Shortly after graduating, I began my career as an English to European Portuguese translator and subtitler.

Starting out in audiovisual translation gave me the opportunity to work on some of my favourite television programmes, but it also sparked a desire to explore other creative fields. Over time, I expanded my work into localisation, transcreation and copywriting, discovering a particular interest in projects where language, creativity, and culture come together.

For the past two decades, I've helped brands and international clients communicate naturally and effectively in European Portuguese. From literary translation and narrative-driven video games to marketing campaigns, educational content and YouTube subtitling, every project has strengthened my belief that successful localisation is about creating content that feels authentic to the people reading it.

I'm also a firm believer that learning never stops. That's why I regularly invest in specialised training to keep my skills up to date and continue offering a service that reflects the highest professional standards.

When I'm away from my desk, you'll probably find me searching for my next memorable meal or writing about food and travel in Dentada, my Substack. Creative pursuits outside translation have become an important source of inspiration and, more often than not, the place where some of my best ideas begin.
